Disney’s New Park Hopping Rules Explained

On January 1st, 2021, Disney officially allowed all park hopping as a part of their phased reopening. Their new modified park hopping experience is set up to help manage the attendance in the Disney parks while also having guests maintain social distancing. Just a quick reminder that only guests who have purchased the ticket or an annual pass with park hopper benefits will get to experience park hopping.

So, here’s how it works. First, you must make a Disney Park Pass reservation for the first park that you plan on visiting. You must visit this park before visiting any of the other Disney parks. Starting at 2pm, you are allowed to park hop. However, you have to check the app and the availability of the parks before you go to another park. If the park you wish to travel to is at full capacity, a cast member will let you know and there will also be an alert posted in the My Disney Experience app. When leaving one park to go to another, cast members will scan your MagicBand to make sure that you have the ability to park hop. As of right now, there is no limit to the amount of parks you can go to after 2pm. So you could travel and see Mickey and the gang at Magic Kingdom in the morning, then head over and let your imagination soar with Figment at EPCOT, and then ride on the back of a banshee at Animal Kingdom and then end your day with a trip throughout the galaxy with Chewbacca in the Millennium Falcon all in one day.
